We are pleased to share the following press release, issued by our Value Added Reseller for Spidar, Micro Pulse LiDAR:

LANHAM, Maryland  Micro Pulse LiDAR, part of Hexagon, has entered into an agreement with NRG Systems, Inc., to be a Value Added Reseller (VAR) in the NRG Spidar VAR Program. NRG Systems, Inc., the only wind LiDAR expert based in North America, designs and manufactures a suite of wind assessment solutions appropriate for a variety of industries.

Under the agreement, Micro Pulse LiDAR will market and sell Spidar Vertical Profiler LiDAR sensors as an enhancement to the HxGN Remote Dust Monitor solution. The HxGN Remote Dust Monitor solution serves the open-pit mining industry by scanning, identifying and tracking potentially harmful airborne particles. Using Pulsed Direct Detect Lidar technology, the Spidar Vertical Profiler scans for groups or plumes of aerosol and then tracks the speed and direction. The portable, low-cost unit performs well in the complex terrain associated with open pit mines.

The HxGN Dust Monitor Solution is a stand-alone solution utilizing micro pulse LiDAR (MPL) technology with a depolarization component and 15 km vertical range. The solution forecasts particulate aerosol transport, provides long range mass concentration estimates, discriminates between particles and helps teams with mitigation and control procedures. When the Spidar Vertical Profiler is purchased as an add-on, the combined data improve compliance monitoring and early warning systems by identifying types of aerosols, as well as tracking the direction a plume is moving. Emission sources on-facility and off-facility are more quickly and accurately identified.

“Adding the Spidar Vertical Profiler to the HxGN Dust Monitor solution allows us to pinpoint potentially harmful plumes, track and forecast their progress, and support earlier intervention,” says Justin Fisher, director of atmospheric products at Micro Pulse LiDAR, part of Hexagon. “With early intervention, companies can maintain a healthier work environment and avoid unintentional violations of clean air laws and the corresponding penalties, including fines and production interruptions.”

“Our agreement with Micro Pulse LiDAR is a logical step for NRG Systems as we introduce our precise wind measurement technology to a broader range of applications,” stated Gregory Erdmann, Vice President, Global Sales, at NRG Systems, Inc. “Our companies share a desire to expand the use of advanced technology, such as LiDAR, to encourage safe energy development and sustainability for our planet.”
