Winch gets hot during use

Because the S6000 & S9000 winches are designed for intermittent duty, it is possible to burn out a motor by using the winch in a continuous manner. This applies for either mode of operation -spooling in or spooling out. Give the winch a good rest every few seconds of duty, and if the motor is hot to touch (use the area of skin right under your fingernail) let the winch cool for several minutes, and then check the motor again.

The motor is the black cylinder at one end of the winch. When you can comfortably touch the motor, the winch is cool enough to operate.
