SIM Cards for the GSM phone

The Symphonie logger has the ability to make a voice call. The primary reason for this is so the field technician can use that as a diagnostic tool. Here are some options for doing this diagnostic:

1. Have a voice/data SIM card in each iPack and use the headset & field card accessories to place a voice call to test the phones ability to complete a call. This also provides another phone on site in case of emergencies!
2. Have one SIM card that is voice/data and put it in the iPack to test it using the voice call feature. This is very difficult to do in the field as it requires opening the iPack and changing the SIM card.
3. Have an extra iPack loaded with a voice/data SIM card and put it on the logger to use the voice call feature. This is easier because you don't have to open the iPack, but costly due to stocking an additional iPack and SIM tariff just for testing.
4. Use any "normal" GSM handheld cellphone to place a call from the site and assume from its success that the iPack should also be able to connect to the cellular provider. This is the most cost effective, but is an open loop test and does not actually test the iPack's own connection.
