Grounding Kit

Protect your sensors and loggers from electrostatic discharge with a purpose-built grounding kit.

Configuration Options

Ungrounded meteorological sensors, loggers, and towers tend to accumulate static charge. High winds, low humidity, and the height of the tower increase the risk of damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD). A properly grounded tower protects your sensors and loggers from ESD by bringing the tower and everything mounted on it to ground potential.

While our TallTowers™ do not require a full-length lightning ground wire (see "Technical Background Supporting Removal of the Lightning Ground Wire on TallTowers"), we optionally offer these full grounding kits for use on TallTowers or third-party lattice towers. Our copper-clad lightning spike provides an umbrella of protection for sensors at the top of the tower. A solid copper ground cable attaches to the lightning spike and runs down the tower to the copper-clad ground rod driven into the earth at the tower's base.
