It has become a sign of spring for me to travel to Europe for the Annual EWEA conference and GWEC board meeting. This year we met in Copenhagen, Denmark. Each year these European events are scheduled two to three months before North America’s largest industry gathering, AWEA’s WINDPOWER 2012.

Because the venue and the event itself were new to me, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Sometimes I find that it’s good to have no or low expectations for first-time experiences – it makes it that much more enjoyable.
I have just returned from AWEA’s annual conference and exhibition – WINDPOWER 2011 – at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The AWEA WINDPOWER 2011 conference is next week in Anaheim! There will be over 15,000 attendees and several thousand exhibitors occupying several million square feet. I attended the first AWEA conference in 1979 which I believe was held at the Cape Cod Motel in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
A recent trip to Beijing for the China Wind Power 2010 conference offered me the rare opportunity to reflect back on the future of the wind energy industry. You may have had that sensation of deja vu, the sudden realization you have seen a specific scene before, but the strength of the sensation on this trip was rare for me, and humbling.
