The demand for data communications through cellular networks is ever-increasing. As businesses and consumers alike adapt to being continuously connected to the Internet of Things, the infrastructure that transmits data from one device to another must evolve to meet demand. As renewables resource measurements become more sophisticated, and the development of wind and solar energy projects become even more widespread, relaying wind and solar fleet data from the most remote corners of the world is as important as ever in the day-to-day operations for developers, owners, consultants, and installers alike.

With the release of the new Symphonie iPackGPS | LTE-G, global connectivity to critical resource data has never been easier. With an updated modem that provides 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE communications, in combination with AT&T, Verizon, and WindLinx™ network capabilities, NRG Systems provides a flexible data transfer option that can be optimally configured for any wind or solar fleet, anywhere in the world. Once connected, data can be delivered via cellular network using either SMTP email or NRG’s MetLink protocol. With this new release, customers can view system diagnostics and live data in real-time, gain remote firmware updates, and receive up-to-date configuration changes critical to fleet operations on global networks without having to purchase separate form factors of the iPack suite.

In addition to the release of the iPackGPS | LTE-G, there are two new iPack models that enable dual communication streams from operating renewable energy facilities: Symphonie iPackACCESS | LTE-G and Symphonie iPackACCESS | LTE-TDD. These devices add remote data delivery via cellular networks to our SCADA-enabled iPackACCESS platform, which means that real-time data can be simultaneously polled on a wind or solar plant’s physical network while historical data files are automatically transferred to other stakeholders via cellular communications.

At NRG Systems, customer-centricity is at the heart of everything we do. By streamlining our data communication devices, configuring and monitoring your wind or solar resource measurement system is more flexible, more connected, and faster than ever before.
