NRG Systems was proud to exhibit at this year’s WindMission Lithuania conference – an event aimed at promoting wind farm development in the Baltic state. Held January 23-24, 2019, in Vilnius, WindMission Lithuania was organized by the UK’s Voice of Renewables in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania, and brought together over 170 industry leaders from around the globe.
Lithuania has ambitious plans to grow its wind and solar sectors in the coming decades, which is largely fueled by its desire to achieve energy independence through renewables. The country currently has around 3,6GW of total installed power (1357GW of which is wind power), and is striving to have renewables account for 30% of its energy production by 2025, with this number growing to 45% in 2030 and 80% by 2050.
During the WindMission conference, Mario Lopez, NRG’s Senior Territory Manager for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, teamed up with WKS Global of Ireland, to discuss the current wind resource assessment landscape in Lithuania, and what it will look like in the future. During the presentation, Lopez and Myles Hand, WKS’ Business Development Manager, discussed the details of launching and running a WRA campaign according to IEC standards as well as the advantages of using remote sensing for resource assessment. This approach, which involves pairing NRG instruments and Lidar with lattice tower solutions and services provided by NRG's Global Partner Network, is more cost effective than purchasing the components needed for a WRA campaign individually, and helps facilitate a smooth transition through all stages of project development, including conception and operation.
Lopez said, “WindMission Lithuania was an extremely inspiring event and NRG is honored to help Lithuania achieve its renewable energy goals for the future.” For more information about NRG’s customer-centric WRA solutions in Europe and beyond, please contact us at sales@nrgsystems.com.
