FAQs

Can you tell me about SymphoniePRO power consumption?

NRG prides itself on our 30+ year history of producing very low-power consumption data loggers that can be left to run autonomously for years with small PV panels along with the iPack integrated power system.

The SymphoniePRO logger has many new features, including additional channel capacity, remote connection capability, etc. Therefore, it does use slightly more power than a SymphoniePLUS3. However, if using the SymphoniePRO like a SymphoniePLUS3, there will not be a noticeable difference in power consumption.

Tip: NRG produces and sells anemometers that utilize a self-generating signal through use of a coil and magnet. This simple technology is highly effective and has been in use for over 30 years. Examples of this type of anemometer are the 40C, NRG Class 1, and the WindSensor P2546C-OPR. Other manufacturers have chosen to use optical scanners in their anemometers which consume more data logger power. Optical scanning anemometers need 12V power 24 hours a day (1 to 2 mA per sensor). Multiply this by 3 or 6 anemometers and you will see the total consumption can significantly increase and add unnecessary stress and cost to a system.
