Bulgarian Regional Settings - short date format causes SDR to crash on data import

In Windows, the default Bulgarian short date settings place a 'r' character after the date. This character cannot be handled by SDR and will crash the program if a user attempts to import data into the SDR database.

To resolve the issue:

1. From the Windows Start menu, go to control panel -> regional & language options
2. Click Customize
3. Go to Date, and change the short date format from dd.M.yyyy 'r.' to dd.M.yyyy
4. Then click ok

SDR will now work.

Another option is to change to a completely different regional setting. Microsoft has informed us that only the Bulgarian Regional Settings use this type of "extra" character. Other Cyrillic-based regional settings should not encounter this problem.
