Actual height of the 50m TallTower
The highest guy wire is labeled as 51 m (170'), and there is a 1.5 m section on top of it, so it would seem that the 50m TallTower is actually higher than 50 m. The easiest way to explain it is the tower itself INSTALLED is exactly 50 m (164 feet). However, the nominal lengths of the tube sections added up are a bit longer. The flares where the tubes connect reduce the total length by around 15 - 20 cm per joint. The guy wires are labeled according to the nominal length of the tube sections so that it is easier for field personnel to quickly add up tube lengths (instead of having to use a tape measure) and figure out where guy wires should be placed.
