Wind vanes measure wind direction relative to the orientation of the fixed base on the sensor. Upon tower installation, it is not always possible to physically align the vane base notch directly to true north. It is sometimes necessary to make software-based corrections for misaligned vanes by determining an offset value.

This calculator will determine the software correction offset value based on the vane alignment and magnetic declination at the site.
