The Hybrid XT Vane | WRA features proven heated technology to support operational met towers being used for forecasting and analysis. NRG’s Hybrid XT technology is based on 20 years of icing climate sensor experience and over 70,000 fielded sensors. This sensor is well suited for use during icing events when other sensors may be frozen.

Hybrid XT sensors are engineered with a two-stage contamination protection system to prevent dust, dirt, and water from damaging the bearings. The first level of defense is a fully sealed body that minimizes contamination ingress. Inside, a sealed bearing cartridge system prevents contamination from affecting the bearings. The all-metal design conducts heat to the whole vane, preventing ice buildup that can affect sensor function. Heat is radiated to the sensor head using a 96W heater that provides ample de-icing power. The result: an extremely durable and reliable vane, even when faced with icing and other extreme weather conditions.

The Hybrid XT Vane | WRA comes with a 10 m cable. If a longer cable is required, we offer the Power Cable Kit – Hybrid XT | WRA Single Sensor for installing the Hybrid XT Vane | WRA independently, or the Power Cable Kit – Hybrid XT | WRA Dual Sensor if installing the vane alongside the Hybrid XT Anemometer | WRA.

Please note: There is a power draw difference when using the Hybrid XT Vane | WRA (40-51mA @ 12V, excluding heater) as a replacement for the NRG IceFree3 Heated Vane (0.1mW, excluding heater). This sensor is recommended for use with AC grid power only. If using a dual sensor configuration instead of a single sensor configuration, a different junction box is required. The Hybrid XT Vane | WRA also has a slower directional response than the NRG IceFree3 Heated Vane. For off grid-power recommendations, please contact NRG Technical Services at support@nrgsystems.com for more details.
