FAQs

Why did NRG choose to only offer calibrated 40C Anemometers?

Use of calibrated anemometers supports the industry’s goal to reduce uncertainty in all aspects of a wind resource study. By integrating wind tunnel testing as the final component of quality control, each sensor has its performance individually verified, further reducing uncertainty in wind speed measurements. Any sensor which fails to meet our quality criteria is removed and analyzed.

There has been fast-increasing industry demand for calibrated 40C Anemometers. Using known-accurate anemometers reduces project uncertainty. Wind industry project business economics is driving uncertainty lower in all project phases. It is now typical for financing partners to require calibrated anemometers for the wind resource assessment phase of the project.
