Configuration Options

NRG’s Soiling Measurement Kit provides users with the information needed to quantify the site-specific impacts of soiling caused by dust, snow, and other particles on prospective as well as operating PV projects. Pre-construction, these data are used to improve production loss estimates due to soiling in annual energy production (AEP) estimates. On operating PV plants, they are needed to monitor actual production impacts due to soiling and inform maintenance schedules (i.e., module washing) and forecast models.

The Soiling Measurement Kit provides short-circuit current (Isc) as well as back-of-module temperature signals for both the clean and soiled modules, all of which are measured and collected with the SymphoniePRO Data Logger. The included soiling interface module provides 0 V to 5 V (analog) signal outputs for the Isc CLEAN and Isc SOILED measurements. The interface module requires a single 12 V excitation (EXC) and ground connection (GND) available from any combination of built-in logger channels (16-19) and P-SCM channels (20-26).

When connected to P-SCM channels on SymphoniePRO, the Isc output signals from the interface module require P-SCM item 9132, while the Soiling Measurement Kit's included NRG PVT1 PV Temperature Sensors for Temp CLEAN and Temp SOILED measurements can be connected directly to the logger's wiring panel and require P-SCM 9420.
