Measure the potential of your utility-scale solar PV project with the SRA System from NRG.
The NRG SRA System comes in four different sensor configurations, each built around a pair of pyranometers that provide redundant measurements of Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI). In the standard configuration both pyranometers are secured to a horizontal mounting platform located on top of the tower. Adjustable plane-of-array (“POA”) booms that enable you to gather data at the angle of your prospective PV arrays are also available as an optional feature. Each pyranometer model integrates seamlessly with the SymphoniePRO® Data Logger via a Signal Conditioning Module (P-SCM).
Our Secondary Standard (SS) SRA System configuration is recommended for finance-grade resource assessment campaigns and solar monitoring applications when measurement accuracy is the top priority. This configuration includes two Hukseflux SR20 Pyranometers that deliver accurate solar radiation measurements traceable to the highest category in the ISO 9060 standard: secondary standard.
Our First Class (FC) SRA System configuration is recommended for finance-grade resource assessment campaigns. This configuration includes two Hukseflux SR11 Pyranometers that deliver accurate solar radiation measurements traceable to ISO 9060 first class criteria.
Our Second Class (SC) SRA System configuration is recommended for resource assessment campaigns. This configuration includes two Hukseflux LP02 Pyranometers that deliver accurate solar radiation measurements traceable to ISO 9060 second class criteria.
Our Li-Cor Photodiode SRA System configuration is recommended for early stage solar resource prospecting. This configuration includes two Li-Cor LI-200R photodiode pyranometers that deliver solar radiation measurements via a small current signal.
Note: The NRG SRA System can accommodate all industry-standard thermopile pyranometers in place of one of our pre-configured sensor kits, and these kits can be easily customized to meet your project’s needs. Customers looking to collect multiple radiation components (e.g., diffuse radiation in addition to GHI) can optionally add the SPN1 Sunshine Pyranometer from Delta-T to their system. Please contact our sales team for pricing on the SPN1 or to discuss other sensor substitutions.
Of course no measurement system is complete without a way to reliably record and deliver the data. At the core of NRG’s SRA System is the SymphoniePRO® Data Logger. SymphoniePRO delivers advanced solar measurement capability in a user-friendly package, including:
Several SRA System sensors, including the NRG 40H Anemometer; RH5X Relative Humidity Sensor; and BP20 Barometric Pressure Sensor, require an excitation voltage to function properly. To supply the necessary power, you must include a Symphonie iPack in your system. Each iPack utilizes a tower-mounted 15 W PV panel that continuously replenishes the SRA System’s batteries, enabling long-term autonomous operation of the system.
When connected to a SymphoniePRO Data Logger, the iPack also enables automated data transfer and remote two-way communications. Various types of iPacks are available to fit your communications needs, including GSM or CDMA cellular, Inmarsat BGAN M2M satellite, as well as SCADA integration via Modbus TCP. Once installed, data are securely transmitted to the destination of your choice, anywhere in the world. Please review all your available communications options on our Data Logger Accessories page.
The UPS-ready package comes with our 2.2m Tower. Designed specifically for solar resource assessment, this tower facilitates top-mounted pyranometers for unimpeded solar radiation measurements, while keeping these sensors within a step ladder’s reach for routine maintenance. The 2.2m Tower includes a steel base plate, guy wires, anchors, and all necessary hardware components for tower assembly. Three duckbill anchors secure the tower even in uneven terrain, and a four foot copper-clad steel rod provides earth grounding.
Designed as an accessory to NRG’s SRA System, the Soiling Measurement Kit provides users with the information needed to quantify the site-specific impacts of soiling caused by snow, dust, and other particles on prospective and current PV projects. These data are used to improve pre-construction annual energy production (AEP) estimates as well as maintenance schedules (i.e., panel washing) and forecast models in the post-construction setting.
NRG Systems’ All-Weather Pyranometer Ventilation and Heating (PVH) Kit allows users to achieve accurate and reliable solar radiation measurements in areas where sensors can be affected by dust, dew, rain, frost, and snow. The solution is designed for a variety of climates and terrains and ensures precise data collection by integrating Hukseflux’s VU01 ventilation and heating component and an independent power supply with our Solar Resource Assessment (SRA) System. The All-weather PVH Kit improves system performance by preventing the formation of dew and frost on the dome of the pyranometer and facilitating the quick evaporation and sublimation of water and snow.
"The best thing in the field is predictability, and I think that NRG Systems is really shining when it comes to that. With NRG's SRA System, I know exactly what I’m going to get, I know exactly how the equipment is going to work together, and I don’t feel like I have to be prepared for every possible sequence of events."Eric Wagoner Partner, Wagoner Wind LLC
