The NRG Symphonie iPack for GSM is an add-on internet communications and continuous power supply module for the NRG Symphonie logger. This product was designed for use at sites where GSM cellular service is available and will transfer data to the user "without wires".
Technology The iPack for GSM contains a rechargeable gel cell battery, recharging circuit, specialized cellular phone (capable of GPRS), modem and internet processor which enables the NRG Symphonie Logger to connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) through a GSM cellular phone network and transfer data as an email attachment to any desired email address on the internet.
Connection The NRG Symphonie iPack for GSM mates to the NRG Symphonie Logger by connecting to a DB25 port located on the back of the NRG Symphonie Logger. The iPack and NRG Symphonie Logger essentially "sandwich together" and are then secured to the Symphonie Shelter Box (Item #3159) via 4 long screws.
The battery recharging circuit is designed for use with an external 5-watt PV panel (sold separately) which connects to terminals on the side of the iPack. This robust configuration keeps the internal gel cell battery continuously charged assuring reliable data logging and transfer operations.
Antennae Each GSM iPack ships with an omnidirectional antenna appropriate for most sites where the cell tower is in the general area. For fringe cellular sites, if another antenna solution is required, please contact NRG. The user will need to work with the GSM provider to determine the frequency band used at the site and an appropriate antenna.
Accounts and Programming The NRG Symphonie iPack for GSM requires GPRS data service and an ISP account in order to function. GSM and ISP user accounts will need to be obtained from the provider of your choice, and the required settings for the accounts need to be programmed into the iPack before use.
Once configured, exciting new options for performing wind assessment studies are now available - an NRG Symphonie system in one country can email wind data to another country for example.

Note: All NRG Symphonie iPacks are compatible with both Symphonie and SymphoniePLUS data loggers.
