Symphonie iPack for CDMA Cellular Phone (Canada / Telus Only)
Item Number: 4224   Price: $1,375.00 USD

Features Specs Documentation Support
The Symphonie CDMA iPack is an add-on internet communications and continuous power supply module for the NRG Symphonie logger and was designed for use at sites where Telus CDMA data service is available.

Technology
The CDMA iPack contains a rechargeable Gel Cell battery, recharging circuit, specialized cellular phone, modem and internet processor which enables the NRG Symphonie Logger to connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) through a Telus CDMA network (typically found in Canada) and transfer data as an email attachment to any desired email address on the internet.

Connection
The Symphonie CDMA iPack mates to the NRG Symphonie Logger by connecting to a DB25 port located on the back of the NRG Symphonie Logger. The iPack and NRG Symphonie Logger essentially "sandwich together" and are then secured to the Symphonie Shelter Box (Item #3159) via 4 long screws. The battery recharging circuit is designed for the use of an external 5 Watt PV panel (included) which connects to terminals on the side of the iPack. This robust configuration keeps the internal gell cell battery continuously charged assuring reliable logger data logging and transfer operations.

Antennae
Each CDMA iPack ships with one magnetic antenna mounting base, one omnidirectional spike antenna of unity gain (cell tower is close by), one omnidirectional 5dBi antenna (medium gain, cell tower is in general region), and mounting screws. The magnetic mounting base can accept either of the two omnidirectional antennae. For harsh sites and/or sites with marginal cellular coverage (distant cell tower, complex terrain), a rugged, higher gain Yagi (directional) antenna is recommended (Order Item 3124 or 3163).

Accounts and Programming Required
The Symphonie CDMA iPack requires Telus CDMA data service and an ISP capable of handling dial-up connections.  Cellular and ISP user accounts will need to be obtained and the required settings for the accounts need to be programmed into the iPack before use.

Once configured, exciting new options for performing wind assessment studies are now available.  For example, a Symphonie system in Canada can email wind data to Europe.
