Symphonie iPack for Iridium Satellite Phone, W/400 Minutes, w/PV
Item Number: 4033   Price: $3,450.00 USD

Features Specs Documentation Support
The NRG Symphonie Satellite iPack is an add-on internet communications and continuous power supply module for the NRG Symphonie logger developed for use with the Iridium Satellite system.

In addition to waiving costly activation and monthly line rental fees, the bundle includes 400 prepaid minutes and a new dedicated ISP service called MichMail optimized for the NRG Satellite iPack. NRG recommends the use of MichMail for all Satellite iPack configurations and has preloaded the common MichMail settings into each Satellite iPack.

Technology
The Satellite iPack contains two rechargeable gel cell batteries, recharging circuit, satellite phone/modem and internet processor which enables the NRG Symphonie Logger to connect to the Iridium satellite system through the MichMail (or other) ISP. Symphonie transfers data as an email attachment to any email address on the internet.

Why Iridium?
Iridium Satellite service was carefully selected by NRG and is the highest quality satellite service currently available. For more information regarding satellite service quality, please see this recent 2007 study by Frost & Sullivan.

Connection
The NRG Symphonie Satellite iPack mates to the NRG Symphonie Logger by connecting to a DB25 port located on the back of the NRG Symphonie Logger. The iPack and NRG Symphonie Logger essentially "sandwich together" and are then secured to the Symphonie Shelter Box (Item #3159) via 4 long screws.

The battery recharging circuit is designed for use with two external 5-watt PV panels (included) that connect to terminals on the side of the iPack. This robust configuration keeps the internal gell cell batteries continuously charged assuring reliable logger data logging and transfer operations.

Antennae
Satellite antenna (3/4-inch IPS Mount) and mounting boom are included. [Note: Antenna mounting boom was added 19 December 2007]

Accounts and Programming
The NRG Symphonie Satellite iPack comes bundled with 400 minutes and MichMail service (beginning May 2007, serial number 35330363 and beyond).  Each Satellite iPack ships with an account activation form which the user faxes to the Satellite service provider. The provider activates the Satellite transceiver inside the iPack and sends the user MichMail configuration settings which need to be loaded into the iPack.

Once configured, exciting new options for performing wind assessment studies are now available - a Symphonie system in the USA can email wind data to Europe for example.

The Iridium Satellite system has worldwide coverage, but there are still a few countries that do not have proper agreements with the service provider.  It is recommended that you contact an NRG Sales Representative prior to ordering.

Note: All NRG Symphonie iPacks are compatible with both Symphonie and SymphoniePLUS data loggers.
