NRG Systems Announces Transition to Calibrated Anemometers

Hinesburg, VT (USA)  - NRG Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of wind energy measurement systems of Hinesburg Vermont announced at WindPower 2007 that all anemometers for wind assessment from NRG Systems will be calibrated effective August 1, 2007.

“It makes sense for NRG Systems to manufacture and distribute only one version of the wind industry standard NRG #40 anemometer. Our commitment to the industry for the past 25 years has been to provide complete, integrated wind measurement systems that deliver precise and reliable data,” said Barton Merle-Smith, Director of Marketing and Sales. “Moving to all calibrated #40C anemometers reflects this commitment and speaks directly to what we have been hearing over the past several years at conferences and workshops – the industry must drive uncertainty lower wherever possible, in every phase of a wind project.” Merle-Smith added.

“Trends in the wind industry show that our customers want calibrated anemometers,” Merle-Smith continued. “The demand for calibrated anemometers for wind assessment has been increasing rapidly as their use reduces overall uncertainty. One knows for certain that the anemometer performs to specifications.”

The cost of using calibrated anemometers in an assessment system is relatively low. The NRG #40C calibrated anemometer has an industry trade price of $285. A typical 60-meter wind assessment tower uses four to six anemometers. “There is no increase in cost for customers already purchasing complete 60-meter HD NRG Now Systems using calibrated anemometers,” said Greg Erdmann, Sales Manager for NRG Systems.

Celebrating 25 years in the wind energy industry, NRG Systems, located in Hinesburg, Vermont was founded in 1982. Jan Blittersdorf is company CEO and president. NRG Systems’ wind measurement products can be found in more than 120 countries, serving electric utilities, wind farm developers, research institutes, government agencies, and universities. With continued and rapid demand in the global wind energy industry, NRG Systems is currently expanding its 46,000 square feet manufacturing facility in Hinesburg to accommodate the company’s anticipated growth.
