Burlington, VT - The non-profit trade organization,
Renewable Energy Vermont (REV), and NRG Systems have teamed up to
promote a “Renewables are Beautiful” themed art exhibit as part of the
Vermont Arts Council’s Palettes of Vermont, a statewide community arts
project. This renewable energy art project will culminate with a public
art exhibit and silent auction organized by REV in conjunction with its
annual renewable energy conference at Burlington’s Wyndham Hotel in
October.
As a major sponsor of the Palettes of Vermont project, NRG Systems
received 100 maple wooden palettes to circulate as they choose. REV and
NRG decided to join forces to promote renewable energy inspired artwork
and encourage Vermonters to create artwork that captures the beauty and
benefits of clean energy sources.
“As a supporter of the arts and a manufacturer of wind energy
equipment, we thought this would be a wonderful way to bring attention
to the beauty and promise that renewable energy sources offer,” said
Jan Blittersdorf, CEO and president of NRG Systems.
“Vermonters consistently support the development and use of clean
renewable energy in our state,” said Andrew Perchlik, REV executive
director. “This initiative will give Vermont’s artists and non-artists
alike an outlet for their creative energy and expressing their
appreciation and support for renewables.”
Palettes for this clean energy inspired event are available at the
following locations: NRG Systems, 110 Riggs Road, Hinesburg; Marketing
Partners, 176 Battery Street, Burlington; Clean Energy Group, 50 State
Street, Suite 1, Montpelier; and, Vermont Environmental Research
Associates, 1209 South Harvey Farm Road, Waterbury Center. Palettes may
also be obtained by calling REV at 802/229-0099.
Completed artwork must be returned to one of the above locations by
Friday, September 1 to be included in REV’s art exhibit at the Wyndham
Hotel. The REV conference is scheduled for October 19, 2006 at
Burlington’s Wyndham Hotel. Participating artists will have the option
of splitting the proceeds from the auction of their palettes with REV
or picking up their palettes after the exhibit.
Palettes of Vermont, spearheaded by the Vermont Arts Council, is a
statewide community arts project designed to unite people and
communities through art. Approximately 7,000 maple wooden palettes and
30,000 paper palettes have been distributed across the state to
schools, businesses and community groups. More than 37,000 Vermonters
are currently participating in the Palettes project with hundreds of
community events taking place from Memorial Day through October. For a
