Hinesburg , VT—NRG Systems CEO/President Jan Blittersdorf will join other wind energy CEOs on a panel during the United Nations’ Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen. Blittersdorf, who just returned from the White House Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth, will be on a panel entitled, “The State of the Global Wind Energy Industry,” one of several side events scheduled during the global conference. The panelists will discuss the key role wind energy can play to address climate change. The panel, scheduled for December 13, is being organized by the American Wind Energy Association.
After the panel presentation, Blittersdorf will attend a dinner sponsored by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) at which some of the world’s chief climate negotiators are expected.
“It’s exciting to be a part of such an important global event,” said Jan Blittersdorf, NRG Systems CEO/president. “I am hopeful that our world leaders come away with a meaningful commitment to reducing carbon dioxide emissions…as a planet, we simply cannot afford to wait any longer.”
In addition to Blittersdorf, a handful of other NRG Systems representatives will also be attending COP15. As a GWEC member and supporter of the global Wind Power Works campaign, NRG Systems chose to send a delegation of employees to help communicate the role of wind power in fighting climate change.
The NRG Systems group is among at least a dozen Vermonters expected to attend the event—more than 15,000 people from around the globe are expected.
