NRG Systems Receives Chamber Business of the Year Award
|
|
Burlington, VT – NRG Systems, a global manufacturer of
wind measuring systems, received the Business of the Year Award at the
Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce (LCRCC) Annual Dinner Tuesday night.
NRG was recognized for its successful 23-year history serving the wind
energy industry and the unique compensation and benefits package it
provides to its employees.
"This is a great honor for us to be
recognized by the Chamber,” said Jan Blittersdorf, NRG CEO and
president. “Our goal has been to provide a work environment and
benefits package that improve the quality of our employees’ lives at
work and home. We believe they should share in the success of the
company because, without their dedication and commitment, we wouldn’t
be a leader in our industry today.”
"NRG's commitment to its
employees through both traditional and creative means of support really
made them stand out amongst the other incredibly qualified nominees.
Their practices are ones that all Vermont businesses can emulate for
success," said LCRCC co-director of operations Lisa Quinlan.
NRG’s
compensation package includes a salary that is supplemented by monthly
cash profit sharing and a generous benefits package, including a
retirement plan that features an NRG matching component, a six-week
paid sabbatical after 10 years of service (and every five years
thereafter), plus cash incentives up to $1,000 per year to help
employees make energy efficiency improvements in their homes and
purchase a hybrid vehicle or renewable energy system. NRG also makes
significant efforts to serve its community as active supporters of the
Vermont arts, Green-Up Day and the United Way.
NRG Systems,
which manufactures wind energy measurement systems for the global wind
industry, has grown steadily since its founding in 1982. Last year, the
company moved into a new 46,000 square foot manufacturing facility in
Hinesburg. The building is energy efficient, powered by renewable
energy and makes use of earth- and human-friendly materials. The
building uses one-fourth the energy used by conventional buildings of
the same size. NRG’s products include complete wind assessment systems,
towers, instruments, sensors, and accessories. NRG products can be
found on every continent and in more than 100 countries.
The Chamber’s annual dinner is Vermont’s largest business event. More than 600 people were in attendance.
