Key Focus


The Project Engineer will be responsible for coordination of new product development projects. The successful candidate will use MS Project to plan and manage the project schedules. These projects will include both engineering and cross departmental activities to take products from concept through to initial production in a timely and efficient manner.

This is a new full-time position in the engineering department and reports to the Director of Engineering. The project engineer will work in partnership with the engineering team to achieve goals of the department that are in line with the company strategic plan, and will embrace the high standards of NRG ethics and core values.

Job Responsibilities

Coordinate engineering projects. Activities may include:
- Defining engineering workflow and deliverables
- Coordinating engineering team tasks to ensure that project schedules are met
- Defining and tracking product development tasks for other departments
- Performing risk analysis and establishing risk mitigation plans
- Developing work-arounds in the event of delays or other obstacles
- Tracking design to cost objectives and status
- Interfacing with suppliers and/or customers

Facilitate engineering planning meetings

Maintain project updates on team website

Bring focus to the consistent use of a structured engineering development process. Document the best practices and standardized deliverables lists for each development phase.

Assist Engineering Director with department planning

Champion company wide implementation of MS Project Server

Contribute to the engineering problem solving process, which may include generation of detailed design solutions as skills and time allow

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering field
Five (5) years of project management experience.

Technical Skills Required:
• Competence with MS Office tools, especially MS Project
• Strong project management skills
• Experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering Design

Personal Skills Required
• Aptitude for working effectively in teams
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Independence and self-direction
• Comfortable with hands-on work
• Excited to learn
