NRG Systems serves many communities, from our hometown in Hinesburg (Vermont) to the global renewable energy community.
Company owners Jan and David Blittersdorf as well as NRG Systems employees are active public speakers and advocates on many fronts. Our employees speak throughout the state to share our lean manufacturing experience and exporting practices with other Vermont businesses. In addition to presenting at industry conferences about products and trends in the wind energy industry, we also speak to community and business groups on more global issues such as energy, climate change and socially responsible workplace practices. We are often asked to provide testimony on energy-related issues at the state and Federal levels.
NRG has been a loyal supporter of the Vermont arts as an underwriter of the Vermont Humanities Council Vermont Reads program and sponsor of the Mozart Festival and the Flynn Theatre. We have been a local organizer and sponsor of Step It Up, a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about global warming and climate change. Our employees serve their communities in a number of ways, including volunteering for Vermont Public Television auctions, Special Olympics and Girl Scouts, coaching youth team ports and organizing Green Up Day.
Public education on renewable energy is important to us. Over the years, we have developed and implemented a statewide program, Wind Energy Month, to inform Vermonters about the environmental and economic benefits of wind energy. Our manufacturing facility has also become an important part of our educational outreach. As a model in energy efficiency and environmental design, hundreds of people visit our building each year to learn about green building techniques and renewable energy.
We were a leader in forming Renewable Energy Vermont, a non-profit trade organization dedicated to developing Vermont’s renewable energy industry. Company founder David Blittersdorf served as the founding chair of REV and we continue to be a strong supporter of its many outreach activities. NRG Systems and its employees are actively involved in the American Wind Energy Association, the wind industry’s national trade organization, and many other international trade associations.
